How Often Should a Small Office Be Professionally Cleaned?

Next, Look at How Your Office Is Actually Used

Cleaning frequency usually increases when:

• Most employees are onsite every day
• The team regularly eats meals at work
• Restrooms get heavy use
• People work late or on weekends
• Customers, candidates or visitors are frequently onsite
• Kitchens and shared spaces get messy quickly
• The office includes lab, shop or production areas
• Building janitorial only handles part of the workplace

A 20-person company where most people work remotely may need less service than a 20-person company where everyone is onsite, eats lunch together and works long hours.

Then, Watch What Happens Between Visits

Once you have or hire a cleaning service, your cleaning frequency may be too low if:

• Trash regularly fills before the next visit
• The kitchen looks dirty a day or two after cleaning
• Restrooms need attention between visits
• Floors look visibly dirty before the next service
• Supplies repeatedly run low
• People start complaining about certain areas or issues
• Someone on your team is regularly cleaning up in between service visits

That last one is an important signal. If the office manager or another employee is routinely filling the gap between cleaning visits, the cleaning frequency probably needs to change.
